We really love how playful this oval orange brooch is. Designed and created by the talented contemporary jeweller Emily Kidson.
Emily creates exceptional jewellery inspired by colour and shape found in industrial spaces. The colour in her work comes from her use of Formica and a material in which the colour does not fade. Along with hand painted dots in red, green and white and silver inlaid dots.
This oval orange brooch is the perfect gift for someone who loves unique colourful pieces.
The Formica consists of orange laminate with walnut in the middle with each shape being cut by hand. An oval oxidised silver brooch back mirrors the circle on the front. Lightweight and easy to wear with a single stainless steel pin.
Every piece is made meticulously by hand in her London Studio based in Cockpit Arts. She uses an array of techniques including silver inlay, traditional jewellery methods and more. You will notice that Emilyโs work is finished to perfection, every element is thought through inviting the wearer to explore the piece of jewellery front to back.
Emily is taking part in our Spring Showcase until May 31st along with contemporary jewellers Rosita Bonita and Sally Collins. We invite you all to see the jewellers work in person at our Clifton Gallery.
