We love these tropical looking gold bamboo bar drop earrings, designed by the talented contemporary jewellery designer Rowenna founder of her brand Rosita Bonita. These earrings are called Yma after Yma Sumac a Peruvian singer, famous for her vocal talent in the exotica music genre, which emerged in the 1950s.
The gold bamboo bar drop earrings are made from recycled sterling silver and have a gold vermeil layer (2.5 microns of gold) and feature gemstone beads – black spinels, mother of pearl, (synthetic) opal.
The earrings measure 112cm long and are fairly heavy in weight.
These gold bamboo bar drop earrings were created in wax, she created a carving of a single miniature bamboo pole, which turned into a complete precious metal collection; B A M . B O O.
Making bamboo the main motif, which was inspired by Rowenna’s love of vintage and specifically midcentury tiki chic, beautiful vintage bamboo furniture and architectural elements from far & wide.
Using the structure of Bamboo to create a fun collection which brings the sunshine into your life. The collection is created using sterling silver and gold plating, adding colourful elements from enamelled silver and semi precious stones.
Rosita Bonita is taking part in our Spring Showcase until May 31st along with contemporary jewellers Emily Kidson and Sally Collins. We invite you all to see the jewellers work in person at our Clifton Gallery.
