Here is our final instalment in our Spring Showcase guest jeweller interviews. We have loved getting to know the designers behind the jewellery, their routines, their workspaces and why they decided to become jewellers. These interviews have given us lovely insights and we’d like to say thank you again to our three designers DeeLyn, Rhianna Lewis and Lucy Thompson for taking the time to answer our questions in their busy work and life schedules.
With that, we would like to introduce you to our Spring Showcase, guest designer DeeLyn:
DeeLyn
Please could you give us a brief introduction to your work and who you are?
Hiya, I’m DeeLyn, the designer/maker/do everythinger behind DeeLyn::Design. My work heavily influence by architecture and all things geometric. I love a big bold statement piece. I am based in Liverpool, via Portland OR, but I’ve earned honorary scouser status after being here 20 years now! I used to restore wood on sailboats and came here for a design degree as a mature student. The course had a woodworking as specialisation, but that department got cut my first year.
What led you to become a jeweller and how did you train/ learn your skills?
We love to hear about people’s workspaces- please could you describe where you work?
What are the areas of your business that you enjoy the most?
Designing. I delight in the process of taking a sculptural form, tweaking it until it’s wearable and if I can also make it multifunctional or wearable in multiple ways I am one happy designer.
